About Me
Hello there!
I’m Raven, a recent graduate of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, where I earned my Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology. My research centers Black/African Americans and their unique experiences with mental illness, treatment-seeking, and dysfunctional generational thought patterns such as the Strong-Black-Woman schema and internalized stigma.
My clinical work has been in a private practice setting under the supervision of a licensed psychologist, where I conducted psychotherapy, administered psychological assessments, wrote psychological reports, and beyond. I am trained as a cognitive-behavioral therapist, but I tend to implement a more eclectic approach, pulling techniques and skills from various therapeutic modalities depending on the specific needs of the individual client.
Beginning in the Fall of 2024, I will be working toward my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of North Texas.
During my time in graduate school thus far, I have been an invited guest speaker, a panel member, and an author on various research projects. I have developed a mental health intervention for increasing psychological treatment-seeking in African Americans. I have also founded Black Mental Health Empowered, a mental health initiative focused on improving the psychological well-being of Black/African Americans and promoting mental health within the Black community. The initiative is committed to five foundational pillars: education, awareness, advocacy, service, and empowerment.
Come along with me on my journey as I empower minds and nurture hearts.
See you on socials!
