Welcome to My Mental Health Blog!

Black woman smiling

Hello there👋🏾💕✨ I'm Raven, a 3rd-year clinical psychology master's student, with a special interest in African American/Black Psychology. I’m also a mother to two incredibly beautiful children. I’ve been married to my husband for 10 years at the time of writing this blog post. And, I’ve been adopted by a sweet Calico cat. My favorite color is, and has always been, 💕pink💕 and my latest obsession is sparkling water.

So, Why am I blogging?

I decided to start this blog because I wanted – no, needed – a space to call my own, where I could build my own platform to stand on and create my own table to sit at. As a Black woman, I don’t always feel safe enough to speak my mind unapologetically. So, perhaps this blog is a mini protest – my mini protest – sending a clear message: I have a lot to say, my voice matters, and I will be heard; AMPLIFY BLACK VOICES. So welcome, I’m glad you’re here, and I can’t wait to share this journey with you.

What is this blog about? What should you expect in upcoming blog posts?

This blog is a mental health blog, where you can expect a wide range of topics, including discussions about psychological concepts with fresh insight, healthy recipes to fuel your brain, and the importance of mindful movement, art and creativity, and meaningful connection. I’ll also delve into spirituality and personal development, as well as share my personal experiences throughout this journey called life with the hopes of making you feel a little more human, a little more understood, and at times evoke some necessary discomfort, as discomfort begets change.

Concluding Thoughts

I am my ancestors’ wildest dreams and I don’t take that lightly. This blog makes me feel safe. It empowers me. It excites me. And, I hope that it will move you too. I want to be a resource for you. A safe person. A virtual warm comfy hug. Life is wild, people are wilder, but life can also be beautiful and people can be even more beautiful. So, let’s cultivate that beauty and enjoy life.
